Kentucky Equal Justice Center seeks an intern to work on food and hunger policy and advocacy. The intern will work with our Food Justice Team on anti‑hunger policy through:

Policy research and advocacy:  researching policy opportunities and best practices for public benefits programs; analyzing and commenting on state and federal plans and proposals; preparing briefing papers on promising options and current issues.

Communications and coalition building:  participating in state and national networks focused on food and hunger; providing policy support to community partners; communicating with the public on new developments and proposals.

Primary areas of focus:  Food is Medicine programs, the Farm Bill, identifying and removing barriers in food assistance programs like SNAP (food stamps), WIC, and school feeding programs.

The Food Justice Intern will be supervised by the Food Justice Organizer. Work can be fully remote or hybrid (primary office in Lexington). Hours worked per week can be flexible based on the needs of the intern and the parameters of the host institution, but could range from 5-32 hours per week.
